You can also use the premium cars on tracks with rain or snow weather depending on the feature windshield wipers. There are only 20% cars in Gran Turismo 5 that are vehicles.

Gran Turismo 5 is the first game to feature a damage model. Depending on different vehicles and weathers, you can experience variations of damage in the selected circuits. The damage model includes both mechanical and external damage. Premium vehicles feature a slightly more advanced damage model. Standard vehicles feature a less detailed damage model with dirt, scratches and dents.
